Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba filed patent for a transaction system called Ant Unicorn using blockchain technology.

Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba has registered a blockchain patent in Brazil called Ant Unicorn. The patent covers real estate services, credit card payment systems, utility payments, invoice processing and security improvements in transaction processing.

Blockchain technology is gaining popularity in Brazil. On July 12, 2019, the Brazilian state of Bahia launched the blockchain app to monitor the process of public bidding under government contracts. In February, it became known that the Brazilian Federal Government had allocated about $5.7 million to research the blockchain technology, and it was planned to issue diplomas to non-governmental universities on a decentralized ledger. 14 universities have already expressed their interest in it.

Alibaba has long been interested in the blockchain and this is not the first patent for the technology. Ant Financial Director General Jing Xiangong confirmed this. The company has already introduced a blockchain to combat food fraud, ensure the security of medical data, and track cross-border shipments.
