Bitcoin’s white paper is celebrating its 12th anniversary
12 years ago, on 31 October 2008, Satoshi Nakamoto, who is still a public unknown programmer, published the document “Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System”. Over the years, the value of the first cryptocurrency has been at $20 000 and has fallen 4 times below 80% of its peaks, constantly returning to new highs.
Satoshi Nakamoto released the Bitcoin white paper in the year of the global economic crisis, which was repeated 12 years later in March 2020.
For the first time, the major cryptocurrency was able to show a fall this year comparable to the stock market. This decline in BTCUSD’s trading volatility indicates widespread acceptance of digital assets among professional investors.
The demonstrated resilience during the crisis, along with Bitcoin’s decentralisation and cross-border payments, will ensure that the digital currency is widely accepted by the general public from different countries.
